Safety in Relationship.
Do you feel OK telling your partner your secrets? Are you comfortable telling your partner the errors or mistakes you made or make (past and present)? 

Many people suffer emotionally from situations like this.

Where they don't even know what to relay to their partners. They live in silence and pretense not because they want to or like it. But for peace to reign. 
Safety in relationship is so important. It affects the very things that make relationships last long.

Some of these things are:

Trust
When you don't feel safe to speak plainly with your partner it erodes the trust you have in the relationship. You begin, gradually, to loose confidence in the relationship. 

Love
Where there is no trust there can not be true love. And where there is no safety, there will be fear. The opposite of love is fear. So, safety provides the atmosphere for love to grow.

Let's look at some of the things that makes a relationship unsafe

Using what your partner tells you as a weapon against them.
She tells you her dirty secret and you are using it  against her anytime she offends you. If she doesn't want to tell you, she won't. Why the blame? she may have told you simply to get encouragement or just to get it off her mind.

Not showing understanding. 
He tells you, you state adding 1+1 and 4×4. You remind him of all the similar things he has done in the past. He won't feel safe telling you such things anymore.

They hear it from someone else.
Even if the person is your mother or their own mother, or even your pastor, you have failed the integrity test.

Not listening.
Many times when my wife will be trying so hard to tell me something and I am watching a film like Game of Thrones, she will get angry and scream, I will not border to even tell you again, just be watching your film. 

A lot of relationships have broken up because there is no safety in it. Watch it.
